  • How to knock the bearings out of my front hub?

I’ve got some replacement bearings and I’ve taken the end caps off but there’s a metal tube inside between the bearings which is stopping me from getting any purchase with the drift. Any ideas on how to get them out?

It’s a front hub, cartridge bearings obvs.

    Which brand hub?

I just had to work out on a WTB hub – the inner ‘tube’ could actually be pushed to one side with a firm push on a long lever – that then gave me enough purchase on the one bearing to batter the thing out. As soon as it moved a mm, I could then move the tube easily and use a drift.

This’ll do the trick. A thin plastic tyre leaver usually does the job.

Or it’ll have a lip on the inside, so just **** it and it’ll take the bearing out with it.
