  • How to determine total elevation gain from a route?

I use memory map and garmin mapsource to plot routes and send them to my forerunner.
Both these programs give elevation profile graphs but neither gives you the total elevation gain on a plotted route.
If I ride the route then this data is available on the device and computer analysis afterwards.
Anybody know how calculate the elevation gain from a plan?

Try mapping it on bikehike.co.uk, that shows the total elevation on routes.

    Garmin Basecamp gives total ascent
Or export it into bikeroutetoaster, which does the same.
