    closer to £18, i'd have thought

    generally factor tax etc. about a third i think.

    but it depends on your tax code

    depends how many hours, other jobs/income, expenses, compensation for the risk of getting caught by the taxman, student loan, pension, deductions etc.

    £14.18/h drops to £9.23/h for me. So nearer £18 sounds about right

    As above, tax/ni on those sort of numbers tend to end up as about a third.
