    hi good people of stw, just wonderd if anyone had a rough idea how much it would cost to replace a broken spoke and to true a wheel from a local bike shop?? just after a rough guide really.

    A pound or two for a generic spoke + labour I would have thought.

    yes thats sounding ok, my mucker who does my bike stuff is away on his hols, so rather than mither him on his sun lounger, ill take it to the lbs tommorow all being well, just didnt want it being an expensive do.

    used to charge £4-8

    £15-20 seems a lot. It can be a 5m job.

    tenner all in. that's assuming one spoke, and hub not needing servicing before the wheel can be trued.

    yes its just the one spoke as far as i can see, and wheel good to go.

    it depends on whether its a rear wheel and you expect the shop to remove and re-fit the tyre, rim tape, cassette and disc.
    could be a few quid, or they might charge for the labour of all the above.
    its best to take the wheel in bereft of any of the above.

    we're £12 i think plus the price of the spoke 40p-£3or£4 depending on what it is

    About 15 quid if done properly ,tyre off etc

    Only a noob needs to remove the tyre (unless the nipple needs changed too).

    11 quid including a spoke at ours. Obviously you retrue the whole wheel.

    FYI it's much cheaper to just cut off the spoke ends and keep riding :o)
