  • How much should I insure my bike for?

Hi, I have recently built up a bike up from parts from here, my shed, my garage, ebay, friends…

Problem is I don't really know how much it is worth or what I should insure it for. I could insure it for what I paid for all the parts, but next year -due to changing circumstances- I will not be able to build up a bike so if it gets stolen I will have to buy it whole.

    Spec is as follows.
    Kona Cinder Cone Frame (21")
    Fox Float 100r
Race Fave Evolve Cranks : FSA Platiun ISIS BB : Race Face 44R Chain Ring : Blackspire C4 Bashring
Deore 9spd Casette : XT rear mech : SLX rear Shifter : SRAM 9spd chain
Hayes Nine Front and Rear 6" (160mm) brakes
(Front) DT swiss hub + Rhino Lite Rims
(Rear) Shimano Deore hub + Mavic Rims
DMR V8 pedals : WTB seat : WTB Velociraotor Tires.

    Thank you.

Write out your list of all the parts used for the build and take it along to your LBS with a nice pack of biscuits and see if they will cost a replacement up for you, thats all I did (although the shop isn't really local and I forgot the Biscuits) ask them to put it on headed paper. job done.
