  • How much import duty/tax will I pay for a frame from the USA?

    I know some of you have done this. How much did it add to the cost of the frame?
    Thinking of getting one from the USA and need to see if it is worth it.
    I have a friend in the USA and if I get it delivered to him and he then posts it to me as a gift will it be tax exempt?

    You'll pat 17.5 % VAT, plus import duty which I have a vague recollection is 4.5%…maybe 5% and often a couriers 'handling charge' at this end.

    Basically, add on about 24% and you won't be far wrong.

    Don't forget; VAT rises to 20% in the new year.
