contract is something like 37.5hours/week. Real life is more than that. But it is fun.

How many hours a week do you work?

Paid for 35 but last 2 months it's closer to 50 during the week...wouldn't be so bad if it was recognised plus last 3.5 month's it's been Saturdays as well but they have been paid - which has been nice.

45-50 hours a week in the office, plus the odd hour here and there in the evenings and at weekends. Contracted for 37.5 IIRC.
But thankfully in the main it is not too stressful. It is pretty much back to back meetings no matter how hard I try to keep my diary free to do some real work, so the evenings are useful to do some actual thinking.
I have probably not had a lunch break for 10 years, i am not complaining and TBH I just thought this was par for the course for everyone in a professional office based job these days.
That said it would have been nice if I had been able to grab 5 mins to go for a poo at some point today

job 1 - 10-15/week, as flexible as i like
job 2 (main job) contracted 21hr/week, in reality as many as i can fit in (will drop when ski season starts). as a partner in the business its in my interests to put as many hours as i deem neccessary in. did 11 hrs today, for eg.

8.15 to 6.45 plus say a few hours at home in evenings and one day every other weekend. Its a time consuming job and you cant earn the fees without doing the hours. its a very direct relationship and fees means wages. I do have a fair bit of flexibility as to when I start and finish, work from home etc. But never miss a deadline or let down a client.

Not enough apparently. My boss has been told to push me and that I should be doing more. It's been suggested I should stay over once a week to play the game and keep folks happy, sounds like a pretty rubbish game to me.
I'm paid for 37 hours a week and probably average about 40. As I said to my boss today if he's happy I'm doing the job and I am too then what anyone else thinks doesn't bother me. Stuff the politics and people's daft view that more hours = dedicated and better staff and not just inefficiency or too much on.Posted 5 months ago # -
7.30 till 4. So about 40hrs / week.

what is it with this belief that loads of hours is good? Work to live not live to work.

Official average 35hr / week over strict 4 day week. The odd voluntary Sunday too in addition as overtime.

5x12 and a saturday 7-330 if I can get it. Read the thread today on skint or sorted and I can see Im in a minority on here. Theres plenty of comments on why do these hours etc etc but some folk dont have a choice.

Varies a lot as I'm self employed and working from home. It can be anything from 0 to 120. Neither extreme happens very often though, maybe once every year or two. Typical week probably averages out to about 45 hours.

To put this in perspective its a 40K job company well known for working staff hard but also looking after aforementioned staff.
Car + benefits on top.

40 hours in the office
84+. A week when off shore ( thats been about 4 weeks in total this year). And is paid accordinglyIf i work late or start early in the office i just go home early later in the week

Average probably 50h but I am well renumerated and have flexibility mainly so can take time out if I plan ahead. Saying that I have 20 staff who can consume time at will. Have done my time doing 60hour weeks and do not encourage my team to be there, I measure productivity and quality over hours - unless you take the Mickey. Generally smart people recognize flexibility and work accordingly. Ideally I would do 4 days a week but that is probably 3 years away and then I will go PT.

37.5 hours a week. Do 7 on 7 off 11.5 hr shifts so 34.5 hrs one week then 46 hours the next.
And all for a measley public sector wage..Posted 5 months ago # -
36 hours a week mon-fri, so 7 hrs 12 mins a day plus 40 mins unpaid lunch break, start 07.30 and finish at 15.22

Work 12 hours shift with 2x 1/2 unpaid meal breaks per day so classed as 11 hours. Work 3 days one week and 4 the next, often finish late but get paid overtime for the first hour I'm late and any after that I can take as overtime or start later the next shift.
So yeah I work within the working time directive.
