Thinking about buying one of these but without any maps installed. How easy is it to create maps for the unit? What’s the best way to go about doing it for both road and off road?
    cheers

The trail bundle is good value IMO and comes with maps. Adding the open street maps isn’t hard providing you’re computer savvy. The maps are not as good tho.

Adding specialist maps is really handy though.. Back when Swinley wasn’t a loop I put a map on mine showing all the best bits of single track- worked great.

There are several options. If you know you want the legal uk os maps then you should buy the trail bundle as the maps alone are very expensive.

You can legally put OSM maps onto the unit if you think this is enough. Look at them online

to see if they would work for you. I gather that in some areas they are better than OS if plenty of people are updating them. In others they are virtually blank as people don’t go there.

    This is worth a read.

The mobile atlas creator no longer has the illegal maps on it (which in my opinion is a good thing).
