I use it for having a bit of banter with people, keeping up with news and putting up some of me photos/blogs. Some companies also watch it closely, I've put up a couple of moans about stuff (scotrail, simplyelectronics) and it got sorted out really quickly. There's always some random stuff and weird followers but it doesn't really cause a problem, at least for me.
robob, I doubt you're stalking people (maybe you are....) there's no point in it if you don't use it to interact with people I think. Just have a look about for people who're into stuff you're interested in and follow them, if they're interested in your tweets they'll follow you back.
