It’s a couple of days past its use-by date. It smells great – to me – but it looks a bit manky. How do I tell if it’s still ok or not? Will I die, etc?

Blue cheese always looks manky. I ate some hairy stuff the other day. Was fantastic.

    Get it in.

I just chucked out some Stilton that had gone brown and a bit watery. Still smelled alright.

Cut the sides away when it looks manky. Still life in it!

It should get really strong and take the roof of your mouth off.

Pink is not good. Neither is ammonia aroma.

Ate some stilton last night that had a 5th Jan use by date, it was good and I am still alive.

bought a great chunk of it after Christmas in Tesco for 10p.

I tend not to even start on the stilton until it is at least a couple of weeks past the date..

Whistle, if it runs to you it’s probably about ripe.

When it smells sour is when I’d not eat it. That’s usually way, way past the best before date.
