…and how long should it last?

Just purchased some 661 Evo knee pads for under £40. Anyone got any experience of how and when the d30 goes “hard” and when it returns to “soft” or have I got the wrong end of the stick here? I tried dropping to the floor on my knees to no avail (the temptation to delve deep into innuendo here is overwhelming)

hit it hard enough and it will go hard but only whilst you hit it – it cant stay hard. have you seen the cornflour and water experimet (youtube it) it works on the same principle.

I believe it goes rigid instantly upon impact then reverts to soft immediately, so you probably wouldn’t notice it.

or you could try stroking it steadily up and down

It’s probably your saddle

The only way to tell is to crack your knee with something hard like a hammer. The problem being that if your D3o stuff isn’t genuine or is faulty, your knee is going to be knackered.

I’m lol-ing at the thought of you dropping to your knees in an effort to test the effectiveness. 🙂

I tried whacking it hard but I find if I’m too agressive I come off my bike too early.

just be careful; I have heard folks tell that if they whack too hard the seam can split and you may need someone to restitch it for you.
