How difficult is it to fabricate aluminium these days to build frames with it? Obviously the big companies work with it no problem, but all the boutique HT merchants work with steel, as far as I know – any reason that aluminium couldn’t be used by a small operation?

At the other end of the spectrum, what are mass produced Tesco / Halfords sepecials made out of? I always thought cheap steel, but maybe large scale aluminium production is competitve these days?

Are you looking at doing the welding locally/in your shed/in the UK?

Just musing really, as a consumer rather than a budding welder – I like riding aluminium HTs, but I’ve not seen anything available outside of the big companies. It would be cool if you could get more bespoke designs. Maybe you can like, I’ve just not seen any.

Would / could you offer an Alu on-one?

Thanks, didn’t know that. Always assumed the bike was scandium steel from the name, like an explosif.

scandium isn’t steel, and an Explosif isn’t made from it

Does that mean it’s less irony?

Did you steel that irony pun? It’s scandalous!
