They voted, the scheming swines...I mean who'd of thought of that eh? voting, and then counting the votes, and seeing who's got the most.
Scandalous, eh?
I mean, I'll bet the Tories are thinking, all we need to do, is get tories to come out and vote for us...

As nickc said, by voting. The mechanism begins to be explained here:

There was an election, some people voted against him and some voted for him, once all the votes had been counted, apparently he had the most votes.
It's somewhat like having, well..... an election in many ways.

You'll have to forgive them...they think the only way to get into power these days is through forming a tenuous coalition.

You may be a non Labour voter but if you are a Union member you are supporting labour with your subs whether you like it or not

Fail. Not all unions give directly to Labour. My union - UCU - doesn't support any political party, rather it lobbies for the rights of its member irrespective of party. IIRC other unions give you the option not to contribute to their political funds.

Doesn't matter as Labour will be out for at least 4 terms.

Wrong. Fierstly you have to opt in to the political levy - so you can me a union member and not pay the political levy and secondly not all tyhe political levy from all unions goes to Labour.
so you only contribute to Labour party funds if you want to.
This did not used to be the case. thatcher passed legislation that you had to opt in to the levy - and guess what - the amount raised thru the levy increased
