    Google for…

Cooking gammon in coke and Nigella.

Nom nom nom none of that turkey in our house.

Ours is a monster (methinks the butcher may have catered for 18 not 8).

Do not use diet coke for above as it needs the sugar not some chemical sweetener!!!!

Google up Richard Corrigan’s method of ‘steaming’ a ham. Excellent.

Found the coke method too sweet, cider is where it’s at. Done in the slow cooker 6-8 hrs

Ours is boiling at the moment in water and apple juice.

It’ll then be crisscrossed, studded with whole cloves, dusted and rubbed with brown sugar, honey and a bit more ground clove then roasted for around an hour (most of it in foil) until nicely sticky.

I like my ham in a boxing glove while wearing a snorkel and mask.

It’s not a smoked ham, but is it best to soak it anyway?

Garage-dweller speaks the truth, works best with non-smoked hams (though is still good with smoked), & fat coke-cola. Boil down the residue of the coke (don’t top up as you boil) & put into smallest containers you have & freeze, use it to add depth & sweetness to stews & soups

Just done mine in dry cider with two quartered onions, black peppercorns and celery leaves. Then trimmed off the fat, cover in Dijon mustard, layer on orange slices studded in with cloves and covered in honey.
Old medieval English recipe – was very nice!:)

I’ve been to the butcher to collect the meat and I succumbed, ham now cooking in ginger beer with various hears and spices. 😀
