Where is the dividing line? Are they really the same thing? Is house just disco for the E generation?

Been listening to Dmitri from Paris and Cerrone today – having a bit of a disco thang! – Cerrone goes back to the days of 70s disco but is still active now and Dmitri uses a lot of 70s disco in his sets. Same with a lot of Chicago house

So – is house really different from disco and if so how do you define it?

Its kind of like trying to define the difference between a man who wears slippers and smokes a pipe and a man who rides a BMW motorbike………..

It is possible to be one or the other but a lot of comercial house since 2005(ish) has been disco or at least hevily influeneced by it.

Classic disco is pretty obvious and is easy to identify

House has a million sub genres and is harder to pin down.

But I'd say classic Chicago house is close to the pure disco stuff and the newer "cosmic disco" sound is closer to the modern European house sound.
