Got a Hope XC hub, a few years old now and its just started to develop a noise. Seems to be in freewheel when on bike. I've ruled out everything else so now concentrating on the wheel. Changed all bearings and noise still there. I'm thinkin as there is a slight buckle that i've noticed recently that the spindle in the centre is bent slightly or i've got the bearings in wonky?? A bit stuck, anyone got any ideas or had similar problem.

    Thanks

the wobble is probably a bent axle, given they are only aluminium. If the wheel sits properly in the dropouts then its unlikely to be a "wonky" bearing as that would effectively increase the width of the wheel and youd have to force it into the dropouts. I recently overhauled an old XC hub and it needed a new axle as well as bearings (theyre about 15 quid).

The noise may be the pawls if its the freewheel making it?

Why not send it back to Hope? I've heard their service is excellent.

Didn't some of those axles break?

Yeah the axles are known the break occasionally, I've done one, not had to do it since (7 year old wheel)
