Can I shorten these brakes without having to bleed them afterwards? I’ve just shortened some new XT brakes and didn’t even need to bleed them following the ‘chop’

I was wondering if the same was possible with these hope jobbies.

The hope website shows the brakes being shortened then bled, just wondered if the bleed was essential?

cheers ‘o font of knowledge’ STW

I would bleed any brakes i cut …you may get lucky – trying to avoid any fluid loss – but I very much doubt it

    1.Remove pads.
2.Pull brake levers a few times so piston come out about 5mm.
    3.Shorten hose
    4.Undo resevoir top cap
    5.Push piston back in.
6.Mop dot fluid off floor and refit top cap and pads
    7.OOOOOOOSH.

You can, but they’re so easy to bleed, why not do it anyway.

Lots of thing are easy to do,it’s no reason do it though (apart from making fun of roadies, that’s ALWAYS worth doing regardless).
