iv,e bought a new frame with standard q/r drop outs.
the question is can i use another option thats a bit stronger than just a normal q/r
i.e can you use a 10mm hope adapter and say a dt swiss 10 mil skewer.

Hope Pro2 – yes can be converted from QR to 10mm “bolt on” or 10mm “bolt through”.
Superstar Components do a 10mm skewer for about £8 as a DT alternative.

Just done this myself, it’s pretty straightforward. Wouldn’t go as far as to say easy but nothing mindblowing either. Remains to be seen whether I feel any difference though
