So for the first time ever I’m in need of replacing some hub bearings in a Pro 2 Evo and a Fatsno.

I’ve been impressed with how long the original bearings have lasted.

Question is do I go for Hope again or are there better alternatives?

Whilst I’m at it what are people’s thoughts re degreasing and regreasing bearings from new with a “fancier” grease?

Last time I had to replace Hope bearings I went for SKF ones, seemed good quality.
Iirc they are a pretty standard size (6001RS or something like that) so there are loads of other options apart from Hope (who probably buy in and re-name the bearings).
    Buy cheap buy twice 😉

Not worth trying to degrease/regrease the current sealed bearings imo.

For branded bearings, I just stick with Hope as they work out about the same price as bearing specialists.

Ask yourself what killed your bearings though.

If it was wear but the seals did their job, consider some enduro abec5 which will run to a tighter tolerance.

Was it water ingress? Stick with Hope stainless.

If you find bearings are short lived and full of mud, go for a high grease fill option with SRS (snap ring seals). There’s more drag but a tighter seal.

Koyo are a decent value brand, Japanese made so not crap but a bit cheaper than SKF/FAG/INA

I find these chaps ideal for bearing replacement.

Have you bearing replacement tools, a six inch length of 12mm threaded bar, nuts and washers and a 19mm spanner are very handy for pulling new bearings in !

Hope original bearings are made by INA so very good quality anyway.
