Anyone fitted car type inner tubes to Hoops? The valve hole in the rim is made for Presta size tube – So anyone drilled the hole a fraction bigger to fit Schraders?

Yep, one of my friends did recently. I’ve drilled out other rims too.

Yep. Been doing it for years, on all sorts of rims including 4 x DT 5.1/4.2s.
It’s tiny fractions of metal that are removed, just make sure to smooth it with a file after drilling.
Why the hell people bother with those poxy Presta valves is beyond me…..

    🙂

Yep done it loads cant stand prestas. I find it neater to do from the inside of the rim out. so hubside to tireside. It is harder with the wheel built but chews up the anodising less. I last did it to some PC syncros rims pre build.

easy – just run a 5/16″ drill bit through or whatever that is in that new fangled metric system, 8mm ish

8mm is a bit snug if the valve has too much rubber on it, 8.5 FTW
