I recently bought some second hand monos from a mate. the pads look like they are quite new. when I put them on my P7 I found that there is no power. they don't feel spongy, just no bite. I am hoping that its the brake pads that need breaking in but a friend suggested that they might need bleeding.
I am not sure how long its been since they were last bled.
would it be worth bleeding them and if so how easy is it to do myself?

    regards.

Sounds like they need bedding in or they have been contaminated.

Or glazed – try sanding the pads to remove it

old style monos? Or mono minis? I have some old style monos. they never feel very good. Although 'spongy' makes it sound like they need bleeding. Bleeding them is surprisingly easy. You need some cheap tubing from a DIY store, some suitable brake fluid a ring spanner (8mm?) an allen key (2.5mm? for the brake lever cap and 4mm for the brake lever clamp) and a fair amount of patience if it's your first time.

I will take the pads out tomorrow and look at them. I can't imagine where they got contaminated though.

they are the mono minis judging by the picture on Hope's website. They don't feel spongy, just very dull
