I need to replace the braided hose as it’s got a nick in it and is leaking under the plastic sheath. I would like to do this as cheaply as possible – so a new hose kit at £30 doesn’t appeal! I know how much of a pain re-using the olives can be on braided hose, but if I buy some black hose instead of braided, would the fittings all still work? Specifically the 5mm black hose on CRC, as I think the braided stuff which is already on there is 5mm.

    Cheers,

    Front or rear?
I think I have black front Hope hose somewhere – possibly with fittings in

Front for now – though the rear is looking a bit dodgy as well so I might change that too. I can get the hose alone for £3.50/m so would probably do both at the same time if the fittings work.

I just did mine changed the olive and insert but the rest was reused. If you are careful there is no reason you could not reuse them to though

Got 3 olives and 4 inserts in the spares box, chuck a few ££ in a Charity box and there yours if you want?
