it will not work because of they way the cassette cogs are grouped.

See one-up components for instructions on how to add it to an SLX cassette.
At the current XT prices, though, I’d just buy one of those.

I’ve just fitted a superstar one to an slx cassette, no problem at all.
I did it a little different to the one up instructions.
I knocked the rivets through the block of 4 cogs, removed the 17t and plastic spacer, reassembled the remaing 3 cogs, ground off the excess rivets and then mushroomed/riveted them over with a hammer, that way the smaller cogs remain in a block to reduce freehub damage.
All in all took about 15 mins.
I can recommend the ss expander though for £29.99.
    Bargain.

Basicly done the same as Mark with a hope T rex.
knock the pics out etc, I cut the pins with old cable cutters (used for spokes) and then hammer flat. working alright so far.

I’ve just fitted a TRex 40 t onto my slx cassette by removing the 13 t cog. After taking bike out there’s no issues going through gears. It all seems at odds with other info online.
