    I’ve got space (just needs a little tidy first 😀 ) and am going to go for a cage, bench, weights and rings – the rings are a great tip.

    I’m going to hold off till Jan to see if there are any promo’s etc

    And one last thought – rubber matting – where’s best? I really don’t want to knock holes in the garage floor

    For the whole Gym v home setup debate – a home gym would be more convenient for lunchtime sessions as I w**k from home.

    There are some woefully underqualified affiliates out there though, certainly in terms of instructing oly lifts.

    Given it takes about 3 years to learn a half decent technique and about 6+ to get a good solid technique, you’re hardly going to get good going on a WE crossit trainer course. I’ve spent the last 18 months being coached 1 to 1 in OL’s (by a highly qualified BWL instructor) and whilst my technique is way better than when I started it’s still full of holes that need sorting and I wouldn’t even consider trying to coach someone else. There is so much technique to cram into a 0.5s lift!

    Ebay for rings. I got mine for about £17 IIRC, exactly the same as the ones on the powerhouse site. Best priced rubber mats I’ve found are here;

    Couldn’t agree more.

    Did wonder about getting some welded up, but decided waste pipe would suit fine and be cheap – turns out blanking caps are hard to come by in the UK, for some reason and gave up and just bought some off ebay – ones made of waste pipe.

    I have managed to find some decent ones for £41 posted. Which given that most seem to be around £70-80, seems reasonable.

    I did look into the DIY approach, but not worth the faff.

    CaptainSlow, I hope you checked you have enough height clearance in your garage.

    …and make sure to add in the mat/rubber flooring into your measurements if you haven’t.

    Now this is exactly why I post on here sometimes 😀

    260 to the rafters (no ceiling) so the cage would fit (220) but if I did clean/jerk I’d need to pick my spot carefully (I don’t currently use a program containing those kind of moves)

    Alternatively, I could to turn to chopmyroofuptrackworld for advice 😀

    I have about 1cm clearance from the bar to an RSJ in the Jerk position! Luckily, at 44, I’m unlikely to grow any more nor take up lifting in high heels….

    I would expect nothing less from you. However, for £41 posted, via DPD, I am willing to leave the toolbox undisturbed.

    They seem to be copies of the Rogue/Wolverson ones which is nice.
