Got a specialized rockhopper m4 yesterday ,need to remove cranks as chainwheel side pedal threads crossed.

    Hollow axle ???

    so conventional extractor no good.

which tool do i need ?

If it’s an ISIS/Octalink BB you just need to put a 5p across the hole and use the standard connector (or get an ISIS compatible tool).

    I’ve assumed it’s a conventional axle BB.

Conventional in octalink ,yes n hollow axle .

will have to use a 5 cent as in eire, are they as strong as 5p .?

Thanks will give a go .

    use two 🙂

as long as they fit down the threaded part of the crank arm and rest securely on the outside of the axle you should be fine.

Success after trying combination of 1 cent pieces ,they do bend nicely around end of extractor, now got nice copper end molded around it now ,looks quite cool 🙂

needless to say it was reluctant to to be extracted.

may look at different BB now with new crankset, time to search e-bay
