Heading over to Canada and the States on holiday but need to sort out bike insurance as I will be taking my hardtail with me, our travel ins. doesn’t cover the bike . Can anyone recommend any good companies , need cover for flying down to London on the connecting flight then over to Nova Scotia and travelling thru to Ontario .

Whatever you do, read the small print really carefully! A friend just wrote of a nearly new Lapierre in Morzine and then discovered that, even though it was specialist insurance, it didn’t cover the bike whilst “in use”.

    Ouch.

For the record, I don’t know the name of the insurer. I know I checked mine very quickly afterwards!!

I was looking for advice on this earlier as my regular travel insurance only covers individual items up to £300. A little bit short in my evaluation 🙂

Snowcard, DogTag & CycleGuard were all put forward.

Think I’m going for the M&S Contents Insurance approach

Not so much bothered about the in-use cover, more bothered about the in transit cover for when in flight etc , will keep it in the B&Bs and Hotels as we go . Just worried that I end up in Nova Scotia with no wheels.

Update: I have now taken the M&S approach as I fly in the morning.
