Got a nasty tear in my jacket today from a bramble and am wondering what the received wisdom is re-repair?

How about Gore-tex patches? Or there are people who can repair the jacket if you send it to them – you’ll find them if you Google Gore-tex patches/ repair.

Or just buy some Seam Sealant glue – can patch just about anything with it inc shoes as it sets like rubber ie flexy.

I probably wouldn’t get a ho to do my gore tex repairs, however Gore Tex will do them for you, here is a link to there repairs centres.

If a self adhesive inner tube patch will fit use that, have 3 on the sleeve of my jacket after a tumble. About a dozen washes and they’re still stuck fast. Contrast that with tenacious tape which is pants!

I thought people bought cycling paclite clothing with a view that it was disposable as it was so fragile.

These are the official Ho’s that repair Goretex. I sent my jacket off for repair and didn’t hold much hope given the hole I’d created from a big icy fall.

Came back like new and not too expensive either, they actually patched a second elbow for free just because they didn’t like the abrasion on the other arm !

LSR can’t repair Paclite – sent off my KIMM Paclite jacket for a hood and shoulder retape with LSR and they just stuck new tape over the old tape (which was pealing off), so now I have a jacket with two sets of tape pealing off – total waste of money.

EDIT – Two issues really with LSR
1. They didn’t remove old tape
2. Their new tape doesn’t adhere to the Paclite material, so was pealing off from the minute I opened the parcel!

OK Slowclimb, they were the repairers recomended to me by Gore Bike Wear when I contacted them direct to ask them about a repair.

To be honest, I was so shocked by the quality of their work, I won’t let them near any garment of mine ever again. I’ll just write it off as a bad experience and fix it myself.
