Does this mean no feed zone for passing water bottles? I’ve emailed the organisers but had no response.

    Anyone know?

Just like the old hope brownbacks series? Can bottles be cached?

Working on the principle that you would not be prevented from visiting a shop I suppose a cache is probably ok. In the spirit though ? Dunno

Generally it means no stashes, hand-ups or meeting anyone but you can use services available to everyone e.g. local shops, cafes etc unless specified by the organisers.

We are only talking 2 hours long here aren’t we?

You can have a lot of cafe stops in a 2 hour ride round a park 🙂

I generally have my pit crew on stand by with twenty Bensons and a can of Stella for my mid-lap re-fuelling, but since I packed in smoking they’re now tasked with keeping my e-cig charged, and popping down to Greggs

Probably means no earpieces or radios too so your directeur sportif can’t hand down team orders.

Binners, does the DS supply Greggs pastry based items in a Jiffy bag? Looks like another job for parliamentary scrutiny.

I’m not at liberty to discuss what was in the Greggs bag. In fact I can’t even remember

Hang on, what if you run out of rizla half way round?

Can you borrow one of another racer?

As long as the motor is *in* the frame, it will be OK as that is *internal* assistance.

Indeed, so no need for any outside assistance, bottle hand ups/ caches etc.

Lol, when i read the OP i presumed this was some endurance event.

That’s a shame. 2 hours is longer than most (all?) XC series races in the U.K. including the Nationals.

Don’t worry, if you need a rest you can have a sit down with me and binners, we might even share our beers.

    (I’m not entered)

Surely this just means you’re on your own.
You can leave a bunch of bottles by a hedge, but you car have a mate meet you halfway round (a sub 10 mile lap,btw..)

    Right?!

There’s a Maccy D’s just up the road. Pre-race sausage and egg macmuffin, and you’ll be reet.

what’s that got to do with anything?!

two hours is nothing for either one big bottle or two small ones. It’s not exactly sweltering tropical racing sadly!

I can put some creme de menthe in my hip flask if you like? Give us a shout as you’re lapping me, and I’ll pass it over. You can pass it me back next time you lap me

Come on CP it’s not hard is it. Most races sub 2 hours have a feed zone. HTN doesn’t have one despite being longer than those that do.

Two small bottles should be enough. I’d rather not have to carry the 2nd bottle until I need it though.

Anyway, my question has been answered. Two bottle cages it is.

Are you coming to the pub afterwards? It’s traditional. Then for a curry. It’s in the small print.

    a feed zone

Actually maybe he has a point. Next time we need to get terrahawk to route the course via the nearest drive-thru. One burger and a can of lager per lap, compulsory. That should level the running a bit…

reminds me of a time when we had some sort of charity day in an office I worked in and there was a hotdog eating competition (which I am apparently not very good it despite being fat) and 2 lads had equal high scores at the end of the day and there was only one prize.

So I suggested a tie-breaker which was a lap round the carpark 400m or so and then eat a hotdog on the finish line, was a quite a majestic sight.

OP, are you one of the “ELITE RACER” types that forced me off part of the singletrack sections at the last HtN because i was too slow for him?!

maybe i’m not taking this bike racing thing seriously enough?

To be fair no outside assistance is standard BC rules, but doesn’t include receiving bottles in dedicated areas.

Yeah, it is a shame they shortened XC racing that much. And added feed and tech zones.

Who said there’s no feed zone? I’ll have you know we have the biggest feedzone in all of Christendom. It’s 4 miles long!

    HtN has rules?

We have to have some so that we can include ‘rules’ on the list alongside ‘arrows’,’marshals’,’a portable bog’ and ‘Jase had to go all the way to the town hall in the rain to collect the keys to the park gates’ when someone moans that it’s not like the old days when a HtN entry was only 3 pence…

Thanks for the clarification Terrahawk. I assume you’re one of the organisers?

Previous posts to my question led me to believe that bottle passing wouldn’t be allowed.
