Anybody got any ideas on what exercises I could do or anything I could take to relieve the pain after riding? the pain is around my hip area buttocks, flexers and groin, it lasts for around 3 days and is putting me off mountain biking. I’m 45 and ride a cannondale prophet.

Both sides or just one? If both, check your saddle isn’t too high.

Are you stretching your flexors after each ride?

Sorry had to get back to work, both hips hurt ive set my saddle lower than normal but still the same, i also get a burning sensation on my skin again around the hip area. I do stretching but not after rides always before.

There is a school of thought that stretching cold muscles does more harm than good. It’s very important for cyclists to stretch the hip flexors after rides, as these muscles get shortened through long term cycling and can cause problems with the hips and pelvis and lower back.

    Agree with the above.
Also could be the IT band going from the outside of the knee to the hip/buttock.
This can get tight and cause problems.
Best to seek professional advice though.
And re the stretching, ride for 15 mins then stretch so your muscles warm up a bit.
