I will be honest up front – whilst I may think I am an audiophile I am not 😆

I need to replace a rather aging Sony amp with something more modern. The rest of my separates seems to have become redundant since iTunes etc 🙄

Just after something to take a feed from my iMac and to power my little mission bookshelf speakers.

Budget is a finger in the air £150 ish.

Any recommendations of brands/models to look for or avoid?

Also if you think I would be better off saving a bit more cash to up my budget do say as I plan on keeping the amp until it dies 🙂

There is not a lot of point spending a lot of money on an amp that will only be given a low quality mp3’s from mac signal for it to power some small bookcase style speakers.

Unless you intend in future to upgrade the speakers and use it with a decent cd player or vinyl deck then something like this would more than suffice:-

I’d pick up something like this Onkyo then you can listen to radio (including DAB) as well if you wanted.

I actually have a similar Denon one at home with an unreliable CD player (everything else works fine) that’s going spare – you can have it for a donation to RUSS or Alzheimers Society.

    Thanks guys.

Don’t consider whats in my iTunes to be of a low quality 😕

Plan would be to still allow for a feed from my CD deck in the future.

cambridge a1 mk3, as linked to above. Have one and am using similar to you – though a feed from the iphone, and from a CD player.

    Fantastic amp
