I spent last night putting the brake/gears on my mates road bike (he is a Triathlete so doesn’t know which end of a screwdriver to hold).

Its a Canyon in carbon flavour with nice internally routed cables and Ultegra gear.

However the cable outers for the brake and gears seem way too fat to fit snugly into the holes in the frame. With the outer ferrules fitted there is no way the outer fits snugly into the frame. I don’t think I should take the ferrules off and see if they then fit.

But the outer should push into the frame recess a bit so it fits properly, then the cable runs naked inside and pops out further down for some more outer for the exposed bit. They don’t fit at all, not even the smaller gear cable outers.

He bought the frame and gears separate, so I wonder if its supposed to come with thinner outers – not that I’ve ever seen a choice.

Am I missing something ? Should I just push harder ?
