I’m looking at replacing my 10spd double chainset on my whyte with a 38-24t SLX Double.

I’d also like to put a hope bashring on it but a bashring isnt something I’ve used or fitted before.

Can someone point me in the right direction of the right sized bashring and also how are they fitted?

    Cheers. 🙂

You can’t put a Hope on a double without making it a single,it’s designed to replace the outer ring, read description here.

Cheers for that, so in a nutshell, I would have to buy a 10spd tripple SLX, Remove the outer ring and replace that with a bash?

Or you could look for cranks with an integral bash, like the Saints.

    Or just get these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mobile/MobileModels.aspx?ModelID=28019

thejesmonddingo, I think you’re getting mixed up. On a (normal) double crankset the bigger ring is in the standard middle position, so you can still run a bash on the outside – inc that Hope one (I have one)

The 10spd SLX in my OP offers me the chainring sizes I want. I was hoping to be able to buy that and fit a bash.

I installed a Blackspire 104bcd bashing in lieu of my outer ring to go from 2×10 to 1×10. I’m sure you can get them in other BCD sizes too. If you have ISG mounts, you can get ISG bash guards but I guess they’re more expensive.
