    Can anybody advise on what tool I need to get the above BB off.

    Actually, if anyone in the Leeds area has one I can borrow I'd really appreciate it (and I have some beer token available in exchange)

    Its a campagnolo tool for Veloce & Xenon.
    Chain reaction are out of stock.Take it to your LBS and let them do it.

    One other question, can I assume from the numbers that I am looking for a replacement bb which is 70mm width, 36mm diameter and 24tpi (it is an Italian frame after all)

    No, the 70 is Nm-Newton Meters of torque, not the shell width.
    Measure the width of the bb shell itself to sort that out & measure the axel end to end too.
