Hopefully someone can help. I’m having great difficulty setting up my shimano saint derailleur. Anyone got one setup?

Honestly I’m pretty stuck. Its mounted, chain is on, but can’t get it to change gear. I can’t even seem to get the derailleur lined up with the lowest sprocket (i.e largest one). I think i’m following the instructions correctly.

I have a single ring up front (36t – could change to 32t if necessary) and I’m running 11-34 9speed cassette.

The derailleur is a short cage (ss) which I gathered from reviews/forums would be OK running in a 1×9 with the mode convertor in. Its not the hub mounted one, but the one that came out later (M810)

Any fitting advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Steve

Is the shifter in the right gear? My first thought is the shifter is in 1st but the mech is positioned in 9th.

Take the chain off and try pushing the mech with your hand through the full range to see if you get the smallest and largest cog. Limit screws prob aren’t set far enough out.

Agree, also make sure the mode converter is in?
