apologies for a roadie question –

I've got an old 9 speed 6500 flight deck, operated by the two buttons on the right hand shifter (old style 6500 ultegra). The shifter's on its last legs, but the only replacements out there all have one button on each shifter.

Question is, will an old 6500 head unit fit into a new 6501 loom, or (better still) can I bodge the old loom onto a newer type (ultegra 6510) shifter ?
