Can’t you just encourage her to walk? She’ll shake off a little bit of that 150kg then.

trianco boiler – solid cast iron thing, runs on coal

Just take along a few wheels, massive rubber bands and pulleys, convert it into a traction engine and drive it home.

If you are using a hoist to load it how are you getting the hoist there???

    With a hoist hoist.

So in true STW fashion, I decided to ignore everyone’s advice and do something else instead, which was to go armed with only a pair of gardening gloves and two cardboard boxes.

I suggest this as a way of hoisting it – just open the boot and have car in gear to adjust position as the safe boiler descends…:

sorry, texting this in from hospital… 😉

wheeled it on a sack truck over to car
    tilt
lift & slide it in using the two carboard boxes as slidey things (the “lift” bit was much easier than expected)

    getting it back out

build two small towers of breezeblocks
    slide out
    tilt down onto breezeblock towers
lean it over a bit, kick away one block, lower it down, repeat until at ground level

then ‘walked’ it round the house into the shed

the last bit was the hardest bit of it!

It’s a perfectly innocent chest freezer with no body parts inside it, officer, why would I need photos?
