There is something about those spacious, big budget 80s productions that sounds good right now -bit of an antidote to the heavily compressed, recorded on a computer music of today

Have a word with yourself. If that doesn’t work take a bottle of vodka and a side arm down to the shed.

I’d be interested to know if you started listening to Phil Collins because you were depressed, or if not, how long it takes you to become depressed.

I have very vivid memories of Phil Collins on loop following a particularly harrowing break up. Harrowing for me, she didn’t appear to be too bothered.

Work block youtube, what sickening crap has he posted up?

Edit: OP, I’m assuming you are a he though on reflection it would make more sense if you are a she.

I don’t dislike ‘In The Air Tonight’ or ‘No Jacket Required’ really, but the production really grates now, particularly the drums with the dreadful gated reverb; Collins was single-handedly responsible for this horrid sound being foisted onto an innocent and unsuspecting music buying public after practically every album for the next decade had it in the most inappropriate places. Up there with the bloody Syn-drum for one of the worst things in music until autotune became popular.

One of the best drummers I have ever seen. For this alone I can forgive him some of the shocking stuff he produced towards the end of his recording career.

I was surprised they didn’t reference him on R4 this morning when they were discussing the Roland 808.
