    Evening

Hiring a T5 camper for 4 nights soon.
Nice early 9am pickup from Barnsley on the Sat with an evening on the Weds, and generally heading north of there.

Initially thinking 4 nights in the Lakes but want to do a few decent miles to get a good feel for how it drives on different types of roads. So freeing that up and was thinking of NY Moors-ish, then somewhere nice in the Dales then across to T’Lakes for a few nights meander back to Barnsley on the Weds.

Shit plan? Can you think of a better one that gets good use from our mobile house for 4 nights? Nice scenic spots to stay at would be most welcome. Feel free to suggest. There will be no bike action unfortunately but def some ‘strolls’ with the good lady 🙂

Try heading up to Hawes via keighly/skipton way. Plenty of walking up there and a couple of good sites and dog friendly pubs if thats a requirement.

Couple of nights over Windermere/ Keswick way should be good. They are great to drive, but the idea is you park up a chill for a bit with a beer so dont be tempted to drive constantly just to feel like your getting your moneys worth.

You can have another night somewhere on the dales heading back over or stick around the lakes and head home late.

how about a day in Malham to visit the wonderful pavement atop the cliff then onwards to the lakes. If you don’t want to go straight to the lakes how about night on the lancs coast?

You could drive from Barnsley up to Yorkshire 3 peaks area. A good walk is Helwith Bridge – Pen y Ghent – Horton – back to HB along the river after a cake stop in Horton.
The Station Inn at Ribblehead allows campers to stay in the car park. Lots of walking there!
Next day head over to Sykeside campsite at Brotherswater, decent pub on site. Be careful on the Kirkstone pass though. This will tell you whether you like driving the van on twisty bendy roads. Nice easy walk up to Angletarn Pikes.
Thornbrook Barn campsite near Ingleton is a cracker if you want to stop on the way back home.

Prefer longer stops myself. 4 nights = 2 locations at most unless it’s a stopover on the way somewhere more interesting.

    Trip done and dusted.
Did Hawes, Glenridding, Keswick and Malham in the end.
Didn’t ‘rough it’ as wanted to minimise the risk of damage to the hire van so stayed on camp sites. Loved the van – just pulling over for lunch and a beer when the scenery demanded was great.
Bloody weird getting back into a car having driven a van for 5 days though!
