Set the wireless speed on the router to the b or g NOT mixed setting. I remember having the same problem a while ago.

Geoffj, makes no difference.

rebooted the router? have to do it now and again with mine.

Yup, I'm wondering if it's the ISP.
Posted 2 years ago # -
what? an anti-MAC isp?

Have you tried clicking the 'assist me' button?
Posted 2 years ago # -
There are some forum posts (not here) that suggest Virgin might not be Mac-friendly. Trying all options as it is driving me nuts.
Tried the assist button, does **** all to help.

I've got a Mac and virgin media and had no issues, it's a Linksys wireless router though.
Maybe some screenshots of what you see may help to come up with a solution.

Linksys here too. Have tried alsorts, all what's suggested here with no joy. What settings are you running Djnova?

Doh... why didn't you drop me a line? I'm currently typing this on an iMac and using Virgin, and I daresay we go through the same exchange!
Anyway, if you haven't got this sorted out by tomorrow evening, text me and I'll pop over!

Didn't realise you had one! Would be much appreciated. I'm away tomorrow night but back Wed. Can't think what I'm doing wrong. Shows connection to router etc just won't pick-up www. Ta

Everything as standard on the router except for Wep encryption, the mac just detected the wireless typed in the password and it connected, last resort but possibly worth a reset on router and start from scratch.
Can't check the computer as replying on my phone, can check tomorrow if your still having issues.

Yeah, should be able to do Weds... oh, and I know the feeling, I've had many battles with Macs and wifi!
For now, can you just use a network cable to connect to the router? At least that will allow you to use your new toy online!

I'll have a go. Cheers.

Won't work that way either. Going to give up for tonight!

Hmmmm... very odd that is then...
Will bring the Powerbook with me to make sure that can connect...
You know, it'll probably work fine in the morning!

Right then, having now picked up a neighbours network (unsecured) it will connect to that.
It will also connect to ours if I turn off the encryption, but stops connecting when I turn it back on.Any obvious things I'm missing?

There seems to be a long-running problem with Macs connecting wirelessly to a network but I had never had a problem (in 2 years) until 2 weeks ago.
I was looking at this yesterday
http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1297
but got nowhere.
My problem is that I can connect to one network (with WEP security) with no problems on my MacBook Pro, but for my home network (WPA) it won't connect now.
I'm using Snow Leopard, and will be seeing if 10.6.2 improves things at the weekend.
I realize this is of next to no help.

I'm running WEP and wonder if changing it to WPA would help at all?
Posted 2 years ago # -
worth a go, just make sure you're using the right password
Posted 2 years ago # -
