If you have young children then look at How to Train Your Dragon or Tangled.

In Bruges made me think of another Brendon Gleeson film that is quite good. The Guard.

Tyrannosaur, best film I’ve seen in ages. Gritty, very well acted and thought provoking.

Quite a few of the suggestions so far are available or LoveFilm instant if your TV is connected. Save waiting for the DVDs.

Or even if you don’t, they’re both great.

A few people mentioned Drive; I’ve got that out at the moment. Watched maybe the first third and then gave up to do something else, found it to be very plodding and got bored. Is it worth persevering with, then?

    My wishlist – “Blu-Rays that don’t crash”.

    I’ve failed so far.

Cancelling is harder than you’d expect, it is like there sound vortex between you and the call taker – they hear- yes sure I’d like to continue, no matter what you say!

    My wishlist – “Blu-Rays that don’t crash”.

    I’ve failed so far.

I’ve had a couple of pups, though LF are very good at sending out replacements. Generally though, it’s been fine for me.

Couple of things I’ve noticed. Firstly, the whizzy menus are actually Java applets, so making sure your player has the latest firmware is fairly important. And second, BDs seem more susceptible to muck than DVDs and I’ve had a couple that look like the previous rentee ate their dinner off them. Cleaning the disc (microfibre cloth like you’d use for glasses or camera lenses, wiping radially centre to edge and not round in a circle) can make a big difference.

If you like action and martial arts then add The Raid.

It is fantastic, without a doubt one of the best films I’ve seen this year. Its incredible, the tension, pacing and brutal fight scenes make it relentless. Everyone who I have recommended it to found it amazing.

Its also subtitled but don’t let that put you off.

Also, another vote for Drive, probably my second favorite film of this year. And another one for Crazy, Stupid Love, the confrontation scene had me howling with laughter.
