I had assumed that the SRAM Eagle crankset would work with a Shimano MT800 Bottom Bracket. However there is play between the two. looking on the Internet it appears that I need a SRAM “flower shaped bearing shield” to go on the non-drive side between the bearing and the crank arm.

Should this be included with the crankset? There wasn’t one in the box. Or is in included with a SRAM bottom bracket?

You need a GXP bottom bracket, Shimano/Sram cranks aren’t cross compatible.

It’s a bit more than the ‘flower shaped bearing shield’.NDS bearing is actually a smaller ID than the DS one (see the step in the BB axle).
