    I know i know the answer but i am fitting my brand new Tv and have had to cut the plug off to fit through wall , BROWN is live am i right.

    yep.

    as you look at the plug with the back off (ie pins pointing to the floor)

    bLue goes left
    bRown goes right.

    Yes brown is live and attaches to the right hand terminal.
