An ode to the plane/conveyor belt thread

If we had a helicopter on a turn table would it take off if:

    a) The turntable rotated at the same speed as the helicopter rotors and in the same direction.
    b) The turntable rotated at the same speed as the helicopter rotors and in the opposite direction.

What about if the helicopter was on landing pad made of mesh below which was a giant fan rotating at the same speed as the heliopter rotors but in reverse?

The rotation of the turntable has nothing to do with it. It's the speed of the air over the aerofoils (the rotors in this case) that generates lift, the rotars could be stationary and it'd take off if the whole helicopter was rotated.

If the motion of the turntable moved the mass of air above it then it would have an effect, but it probably wouldn't, so it's irrelvant.

The pilot would be sick tho…

That was pathetic. The trollic equivalent of shooting your load at the sight of our thigh. Get down there and make yourself useful, and if you even come up for air, nevermind mention Hit The North, before we've had 40 posts there'll be trouble.
