Got a heckler 6.1 (no pinch bolts on swing arm)

In April had bearings replaced at a local shop who are normally very good, but not SC dealer and don’t think they have the correct removal/fitting tool (£56 to buy). “had a real job getting the bearings out” was mentioned by them on collection. Also noticed they hadn’t used the sachet of loctite that came with bearings.

This bike has been used ~12 times since then. Fine to begin with but main pivot now looser as a loose thing, so clearly something not right.

    Do I…

    1. Go back to local shop. They are good lads, normally do a good job but I’m sure they don’t have the right tools for it and it’s been a while.

    2. Go to either of the local SC dealers, who are quite frankly ****ing useless and both of whom I only ever go into in absolute emergencies?

    3. Attempt to do it myself without the right tools. Bearings are in the frame, not the swing arm.

    4. Splash out on tools, which are unlikley to ever get used more than once again?

Bearings might be OK, just try loctiting the main axle & cone / little bolt in again.

    Thanks

The main axle/pivot tightens with an allen key, so tweaked this up a bit and it’s made no difference. So is it still worth doing what you suggest there scruff?

they are tapered, anf the lbs might have fitted them the wrong way round. i fitted some from betd, and they have been fine for months, including a week in the alps

Take it back to the shop. Probably wont take them too long to figure it out. Dont worry about the specialist tools, sockets and screwdrivers can get a job done just fine, maybe with a bit more care and time though.
Funny you should bring this up as I just changed the bearings and pivot pinch bolts on my Heckler 6.0 (after the DS pinch bolt snapped)
