Ey op you lot, do you know there is a plan to install a 35 metre oil rig at the site of Heads Roll on Leith Hill? (Just across the road from Redlands).

Plus 1100 HGV movements on Coldharbour Lane – a 400 year old sunken lane – for set up and god knows what else. The drilling is currently billed as “exploratory”, so what happens if it’s good news for the drillers? There are already plans for another at Brockham, they’ll smother the Weald and cherry pick the Surrey Hills too. Trashed, forever.

This is not abstract, it is happening imminently and it’s a big deal.

If you don’t want this, the time to get up to speed and join the push back is now.

There’s a walk planned for 3 Dec to show strength of feeling (arrive at the Tower 1130). Wouldn’t it be fantastic if there was a big show from the MTB community too.
