well here is something i never thought i would ask… my 12 year old son and 15 year old daugher are whingeing to the wife that i play my vinyl too loud on a saturday night when she is out.

i feel i may ultimately need a 70’s deep sided easy chair too, but for now can anyone recommend a nice pair of headphones please (new or ones to look for used) and/or tell me what to look for?

For ‘bang for buck’ you can’t go far wrong with Grado, you look like a 1940’s air traffic controller and they leak like mad but for listening at home they’re brilliant.

Even their relatively entry level ‘prestige series’ jobbies sound bloomin’ ace.

    There’s something wrong with me.

My brain initially translated the op as:

no idea what a reasonable pair will cost so open to options, but conversely i’m also not into silly spend territory.

    These get consistently good reviews:

They don’t win many prizes for looks, but they’re hardly ugly, and I guess you’re not going to be wandering the streets wearing them, so who cares, really.

After much hanging around tech shops I went for a pair of sennheiser momentums which were the best sounding to my ears. I’m sure theres all sorts of audiophile stuff out there rated higher, but 100 quid was pushing my budget and they are noticibly better than the 50 quid offerings I tried.
