So as I was clicking a link, I spied an advert over there —-> and managed to read the brand name before the page refreshed.

    HeadKayse foldable helmets.

First I heard of them, sounds a bit like the benefits of the cardboard helmet of last year, but potentially lighter and more ventilated. The only thing that comes to mind, is there doesn’t seem to be a sweatband on the forehead, although it might not be a final version yet…

    Anyone got any further info?

It pops up on here once in a while, it seems to be one of those good ideas that doesn’t seem to ignite peoples interest much..

Not seen these before, look like a good idea

I use a Morpher folding helmet on my Brompton, means I can keep a helmet in my brompton bag (have it with me today, didn’t wear it this morning as it was only a short ride, might wear it on the way home)

Brooks also make foldable helmets; see link to their outlet.

Ordered one in October 2015 (yes, twenty-fifteen). Still waiting.

Just proves how rubbish the forum search is, it didn’t pick up those two threads when searching ‘headkayse’! Using google to search the site it picks up a few plus some bits from the non-forum areas. Surprised they’ve not met a pre-order from 2015, they crowdfunded well past their target…

The Brooks one is a post-branded Carrera helmet

The problem with those folding helmets is that they don’t really fold flat, they just fold up to be smaller than a full size helmet

They did lend me a prototype and it has its uses. Travelling with a bike I’d normally hide my helmet in the rear triangle (sounds well dodge!) but I used the Headkayse to protect the head tube. They are easily washed with no foam lining. They’re not designed for it but I’d rather wear a Headkayse for a low-cc motorbike hire instead of the horrible greasy plastic nit fests they often lend in Asia. I did find the flexibility massively reduced in the cold though, so keeping it in the shed and popping it straight on I wouldn’t advise.

I’ve yet to be able find anything using the forum search lol 🙂

Well this just popped up on Facebook again, £150 and apparently has EN-1078 certification after having some boulders dropped on it and being driven over by an excavator. I’m not so fussed about the foldability but being able to put it in your hold luggage is interesting as I’ve just carried my helmet as hand luggage yesterday!

    Anyone using one regularly?
