    I could only afford bar mounts, but head is generally more versatile. Really comes in on tight, twisty stuff. Turns out you don't always want to look where the wheel is pointing…

    i find helmet-mounted-only gives a 'no shadows' look that makes it much harder to judge depth.

    I I had to ride with just one it'd be the head one every time. Goes wherever I'm looking and the one on the bar only goes where I point the bike.

    as above. Both is best. While you can see round corners with the head, it doesn't create good shadows and therefore makes obstacles harder, so even a cheap 'Tesco torch' type supplementary light to do that is worthwhile

    So what are we saying? If you have the option, Use the best lamp as head lamp, and other as bar mount or 'tuvver way round?
