  • HDMI Splitter/Switch – Which one?

My TV only has two HDMI ports.

Currently not an issue as I don’t currently own a blueray player 😳

Looking to address this in the sales but I will need a splitter/switch.

I’d like an auto rather than a manual switched one so I can hide it away and also so there isn’t another remote!

I recall old scart switches being crap and significantly afftecimg the output quality of the device so within reason would like a decent one.

Any suggestions before I play roulette on Amazon?

    Cheers,

    Mark

Surely HDMI being digital there should be no loss of signal. It’ll either work or it won’t. One would hope the former.

Buy the most expensive you can. It definitely makes a massive difference.

    Oh, right…. 😉 😈

Not entirely true. I tried a very cheap HDMI switch and it introduced what are known as “sparkles”, where a few individual pixels fail to get processed but the rest of the pic is fine. Removing the switch removed the sparkles. Buying a better quality switch solved the problem.

I got this one which is 8 quid now:

I’m sure there are better ones but it seems to work perfectly OK. Automatically switches when a device is powered up which is about all I wanted.

get an AV receiver. Then you can hook up some monster 5.1 speakers and get several HDMI inputs with only 1 HDMI connection to the TV.

    Thanks guys.

Sadly no room for a full AV set up so have a modest Bose sound base thingy.

@ton – do you know the model number by chance? Also who are “we”?
