Just curious to know which direction people prefer. I've ridden it in both directions in the last few days and there are pluses and minuses for both. Yes I'm bored!

jacobs as a descent, though the climb up to it is a PITA. doing it that way tomorrow i reckon, making sure ascenders give way to MEEEEE!!!!

Me too I think Steve I'm just really hopeless on that 1st part of Jacob's after Lee Farm – the stone staircase

Knees and elbows out and think *float*, James. It's nigh on impossible to tense up with your knees as far out as you can.

Righto Steve will give that a go next time 🙂

Hurts more if you come off though James. The elbow or knee becomes the first point of high speed contact

Whoops, I was speed reading. Elbows and knees out for the top part as a descent.
Top tip for the climb….keep pedalling 🙂

It's the climb from the Edale side I struggle with!

    Clockwise.

Every now and again I'll go the other way round but clockwise is best.

Up Jacob's for me, but either way is good.

I enjoy the climb from Roych Clough to South Head too much!

Clockwise. the climb out of hayfield to the top of Jacob's ladder is far more climb-able than Jacob's itself (see endless threads wittering on about it), and also the last two times I've gone *up* Jacob's, I've destroyed my rear mech, so I'm not risking a third 🙂

Clockwise for me too. Probably doing it next Saturday.

Aye, clockwise for me. The climb out of Hayfield is long but a challenge that i haven't managed to do without dabs yet. The climb out of Edale up to Hollins Cross is a fun challenge as well. The ascent of Mam Tor and the crossing of Rushop Edge is far more fun that way i reckon.
The climb out of Roych's Clough always has me dabbing right at the beginning of the climb then i seem to ride it all until the last step up right at the summit. Always catches me out 'cos i've nowt left in my legs/lungs at that point.

Ahh, the age old argument. Anticlockwise is best. That way all the descents are the correct way round. 😀

myfatherwasawolf – you mean they're all downhill that way? 😉
